Tiling in Fusion 360?
September 26, 2016 03:12PM
Has anyone tried to do tiling (with or without the indexing jig) in Fusion 360 CAM?
I do not see any provision for it like there is in Vcarve Pro.
If you have, or know of resources that describe it, please point us to those!
Thanks,
Steve

There's this youtube video Tiling in Fusion 360 that shows a method of tiling by setting up each toolpath with its own stock (of 6"x8"). I'm still learning Fusion's API but I think this could be scripted out.

Thanks, Mike. I can see from the video that he was able to simulate cutting along a tiled set of toolpaths...But how were they set up?
How to tell the router not to go past the end of the stock?

I see in the screencast David Preiss posted (that Mike linked above) that he used a 2D Contour operation, which has the Geometry tab option to use a sketched face as
"stock contours" to limit how far the tool cuts (see attached screenshot). But this option is not available in the 2D Engrave operation (see attached screenshot), and a 2D Contour would only
trace the outline of the text, not engrave it.

I can't see a way to tile when Engraving. Any ideas?

Bumping the message back up: Does anyone have advice on tiling a large engraving toolpath in Fusion 360?
