Locating Tool

just got the handibot.

followed the install directions.

installing on an old XP netbook.

everything went smooth until i go to open the Shop Bot control software where it pops up a yellow " locating tool" dialogue box and then defaults to preview mode.

i must be having a usb install issue. how should i proceed to fix this?

Get a cheap MS Windows 7 or 8 machine. I am not trying to be trite. Microsoft no longer supports Windows XP. I used to do IT. I no longer do IT as it keeps changing every few years. As I recall, USB was new to Windows XP and it may not be compatible. I could be totally wrong. Maybe someone else has a system similar to yours and they can be more helpful.

A cheap tablet works great as you can mount it directly to the handibot.

i tried 2 old xp machines and then tried my little windows 7 Viliv N5.
That worked like a champ!

It must take a little nerd-cred to get the xp drivers installed and working right. :-)
