Having read Make: Designing for CNC it strikes me at just how much the authors skim over joining your pieces together. When you study the Handibot or most anything designed by Bill young there is just a bit of mad scientist thing going on. Furniture bolts and extrusion style T-nuts in the case of the handibot, and furniture bolts and slip in pieces containing hammer in T-nuts. I've lby Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
I've done a short book review that might be of interest to some of you. Our own Bill Young has a small part in this, I wish he had had a larger part. That may well have added the final star in my rating. First, let’s start with who may be interested and who will not be interested in this book. Is your idea of furniture making with CNC about small augmentation to making colonial orby Mark Evans - Handibot Forum

I've done similar, you look to be having trouble selecting the right operations when you get to tool pathing. Go back and when you start to toolpath, make sure you only have what you want checked.by Mark Evans - Handibot Forum

That is sweet. I don't have use for it today but can see needing one down the road. I hope enough others show interest that you add it to the catalog.by Mark Evans - Handibot Forum

Hey all, I'm going to sell my accessory base and turn that cash into something like it for the extended Y. Complete write-up over at the G+ site if you are interested. Thanxby Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
Daniel, indexing is extremely easy with the extended Y, you just slide the unit 6 in. at a time. So mark your 24" or less X whatever board every 6 in. Clamp it tight with the provided clamps. Cut the first tile. Move 6 in. to the right, there is a pointer for this. Cut the next tile Continue This works SO much better than the old jig. Congratulations, I hope it is as well received as it should be.by Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
Steve, there is a probe like that for the Shopbot but I don't think it is compatible with the handibot, we'll have to see if Brian weighs in on that. I think it would be well worth your while to drop back 20 and try again at learning Fusion 360, not just for this project but for a lot of future work. I would not be able to do a quarter of what I do if I had not invested the time toby Mark Evans - Handibot Forum

This is not something I have tried but at this point, I would not be so intimidated by the challenge. How good are you in Fusion 360? Is the curve consistent or can it be expressed mathematically? If I was trying to do this I'd poke around the F360 forums for how to model itby Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
There does seem to be an upper limit but I (as a fellow owner) can't quantify it. I take it you have tried simple files and they are working fine? If not, try something easy so you/we will know it is a file problem or something bigger.by Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
Bill, I had a blast, really. Great fun pretending to be the cnc evangelist I want to be when I grow up.by Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
I spent most of the weekend at the shopbot booth they had production unit number 0 there and it looks very nice. A lot of subtle improvements from my betta but looks exactly the same. Brian had to rush out Sunday afternoon to get to yet another event, just a matter of getting him some time in the shop and it will go live.by Mark Evans - Handibot Forum

FWIW I totally agree with Russ. Yes, it is frustrating to wait for stuff in development but shows are a must. If digi-fab companies don't sell to an ever larger crowd they won't be around at all. I've been lucky to gain enough respect from Brian to get early access and from the Glowforge team as well but I was not so lucky with the Shaper Origin and I waiting like everyone elseby Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
I just found out I am going to be able to make it to MFYN and I am more than a little giddy that you are debuting this there. I'm proud on my little part in it and in awe of the design of this little beauty.by Mark Evans - Handibot Forum

I've got some ideas for some jigs and accessories for the Handibot extended Z but if they exist it might be easier if I could start with a 3d model. Does that exist? Thanx Mby Mark Evans - Handibot Forum

Dan, normally I say I don't speak for ShopBot /handibot but this time.... Yes they'll want it back so that they can rework it. I got my updated one installed and the program installed . Working great. Tried to enter network mode but the network screen will not populate with wifi channels even with one right beside it! I may be cursed to direct mode forever!by Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
I absolutely love seeing this as the solution to Z zeroing for the Extended Y handibot. Every time my confidence in your ability to be awesome wanes you do something like this. I have some ideas for accessories for the ExtY but I am not going to reveal them until you are shipping as I don't want to distract you. :-)by Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
Rob, when I first started reading I thought maybe you had set something wrong in vcarve but no, if it is doing it using the code from the hole app then it is a machine problem. First thing with any digital machine problem is to shut it down, way down, all the way off, and unplugged. then bring it up and see if the problem persists. if it does, the FabMo card probably needs to be reloaded. BK, I think BO thought you meant 4x4 in, looks to me you meant 4x4 ft. What BO describes works great for small items but if you are wanting to align on large parts like the center of a 4x4 ft. a piece of sheet goods then you will really appreciate the laser alignment tool. It is one of those things I don't use all that often but when I need it, it is worth its weight in gold. A fair suby Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
