I was lucky enough to get an ethernet adapter through HandiBot, because I could not find one and the machine AP-mode/WiFi was not working. Watching the video I was curious of a few things: - Where did he find the pin configuration for the 37-pin connector? - I pretty sure FabMo supports G-code, which was the justification for the controller change. Sorry for not responding sooner, but don't I don't frequent this forum as often as I used to. To answer your question, it depends. Where the Handibot shines, is in the take the machine to the workpiece world, which is where the Shaper and Yeti SmartBench are also focused, both of which are actively being developed and have larger work areas. They are also likely more expensive if yby moretoyswins - Handibot Forum
Andrew, much of what you have said rings true on so many levels, but before I get into that, I want to praise Ted and Brian on their honest, straightforward support of the Handibot user base. Without Ted and Brian’s insight and support, the Handibot would have followed many Kickstarter projects from empowering their dreams into fueling nightmares. I was one of those supporters, and to be honestby moretoyswins - Handibot Forum
This had no effect, I took a movie of this and a motion test that I will forward via email at they are too large to attach. Thanks in advance, Mby moretoyswins - Handibot Forum
I am getting no Z motion, X and Y home but Z does not move. Tried using manual commands they don't have any effect either. As a last resort I did a factory reset, but that did not help. With power on the motor does hold position, but does not respond to move requests. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Even the one vendor I found is out of stock, they sent me an aluminum version which did not work. I search elsewhere to no avail. Has anyone found a working alternative for the Sparkfun board set? Thanks in advance, mby moretoyswins - Handibot Forum
Given that the Satechi ST-U3B1N has been discontinued and is generally unavailable (at a reasonable price, I saw only one vendor who asking $80) has anyone found an alternative for the red Edison (Sparkfun board set)? I am kicking myself for not getting one earlier, life introduced some other challenges and fixing the Handibot network issues fall off my ToDo list. Brian, have you had any luck getting ethernet working on the Sparkfun board set? The Green PCB does have a RJ45 connector but I have not been brave enough to try attaching it to my router. Really more time constraint than fear but I don't want to screw up the FabMo or the router. Thanks in advance, mby moretoyswins - Handibot Forum
I truly feel your pain, last summer I spent several long nights fighting to get my Handibot on my network, to no avail. Fortunately for me, AP mode still works (touch wood), although it too can be flaky! Far too often I get the famous "waiting for FabMo" message. In the worse cases it results in project material joining the firewood pile. One of the reasons I sold my v1.1 Handibotby moretoyswins - Handibot Forum
I was considering the upgrade to 1.6.x, but Dan's comments concerned me enough that I will put it off, at least for now. I get that the software team needs people using their builds and while I am more than happy to help where I can. However, my current To-do list is mostly working on material not easy to replace. Out of curiosity has anyone had positive experiences with the latest 1.6.by moretoyswins - Handibot Forum
Kyle, very cool! If we could use auto path generation/regeneration to solve skew (pitch and yaw) as well as slight positioning errors my CNC world would be much happier. Brian: Are the rollers (wheels?) meant for both standard bases and LST? Do they swivel to allow movement in all directions? As an aside... I like Kyle have a manual positioning jig but have often thought of building aby moretoyswins - Handibot Forum
Thanks, Brian. I am not in front of the accessory base to measure and I would not want to even consider purchasing any extrusions until I had the LST in hand. That said, looking quickly at what would be involved from parts and assembly there are several options. Such as stacking 1.5" x 3" rails or framing sides and bottom with 1.5" x 1.5" rails with corner braces. The 40by moretoyswins - Handibot Forum
Is the holder available separately for the Galaxy Tab? It is just that I already have a Galaxy Tab but I have not tried using it with the Handibot. I got the Galaxy Tab for my birthday and all I really wanted was an ELB! Thanks in advance,by moretoyswins - Handibot Forum
Brian, I have not been on the forum in some time and have missed all the fun! Congratulations on getting the ELB and a few other accessories into the store! At one point you talked about new rails for the standard base to allow the switching back and forth from the ELB, are these available? My desire to switch back to the standard base is not portability related. Rather more of a desire tby moretoyswins - Handibot Forum

Brian, thanks for the update, as you may recall the extended base is one of the accessories for which I have been waiting. A 48" Handibot sounds great, but I anticipate it would be difficult to move around. At 48" I would suspect that without adding an outboard support for the ball screw the risk of bending it would be a concern. I could be wrong, and I am certainly not an engineerby moretoyswins - Handibot Forum
Thanks, Brian - that makes a lot of sense so much so it was a facepalm moment! Cheers, Mby moretoyswins - Handibot Forum
I am curious as to one of the statements in the Handibot Safe Use document. Specifically, the statement "Do not use router bits with a diameter in excess of 1/2” (12.7mm) in your Handibot." The Dewalt 611 manual states "Do not use router bits with a diameter in excess of 1-3/8" (34.9 mm) in this tool." Is the issue vibration, drive motor related, bit speed, or somethby moretoyswins - Handibot Forum
Not sure how many Handibot have made it to Canada, but here is an opportunity to avoid the importation expense and hassle. I picked up a second Handibot so my original one has to go (wife's orders). So silly question time. Is there a comprehensive list of differences v1 verses v2? More to the point, with the v1 and getting the ELB working with it what am I not getting? Presume I would do the FabMo Upgrade, I still do not get z-zeroing, improved dust collection, easier bit changes, ... <please help me understand the "..."> I understand early adopting has so drawbacksby moretoyswins - Handibot Forum
Hi Brian, Posting on this thread but the question ties directly to Boris's thread titled "New Board Update for V1". First, I think it is great you got the FABMO Upgrade Kit out the door; I have been tempted to grab one but have waited to see what happens on the upgrade front. On that topic we all appreciate, that your entire team is heads down on several projects, the pureby moretoyswins - Handibot Forum
To provide some closure on the topic, at least for my circumstance. Ted and team were great and very helpful, I cannot thank them enough for their efforts. I am not sure I completely understand your suggestion(s). You are correct in that I use a 1/4" up spiral bit to do rough out, then switch to 1/16 tapered bit (or 1/32 for finer stuff and dependant on wood type). That is for the carving portion, I then switch to a larger straight or V-grove bit for the lettering portion of the sign. I add 3D carvings to plaque and signs. Some stock items, some produced in Cut3D or similar products. The photo attached is a sample carve, needs some sanding but you should get the idea. I have learned much about CNC and the capabilities of the Handibot. While it may not be the best CNC router for carving, jigging things to allow tool changes makes it workable. It also fills a number of thby moretoyswins - Handibot Forum
I will try some more diagnostics possibly this weekend. I should mention the first time I saw the positioning issue was after switching to a new Dell tablet and upgrading to the latest sbedit program. I have a similar issue. The noise has always been there but the X repositioning failure is something recent and has gotten worst. I have been trying the work through the issue with support, while they have been supportive with ideas we have not found a solution. With 1.1 edition now in production, it is great to see the 1.1 faceplate upgrade available as an option on the Handibot Store. But the 1.1 faceplate is not the only improvement. Is there a planned kit to bring the 1.0 editions up to 1.1 capabilities or will it be piecemeal upgrades?
