This is the one I bought on Amazon and have been using successfully on my Handibot. Astro Pneumatic Tool Co 200-283 Slot 1/4-1/8-Inch Collet Reducer $11.11 (USD) Prime I can't speak to its viability with 3mm, but it's been solid for the 1/8" tooling I use.by deagan492 - Handibot Forum
The battery holder worked great. I was glad that I ordered the exact parts defined in the instructions. The battery holder snapped into the frame (horizontally) which was nice. The vertical motion was suppressed with the recommended super glue and seems to be working great. I can imagine it being difficult to have it held strictly by the frame since all but the thin rim varies in height to acby deagan492 - Handibot Forum
I'd meant for some time to take advantage of the wonderful instructions provided by Brian Owen for building the Laser Alignment Jig. I'd hesitated for some time since the only plastic I have is the pile of cutting boards I've scored at Goodwills and Savers. Oddly enough, these are almost universally .4" thick. The plans call for using .5" stock and I was worried. Iby deagan492 - Handibot Forum
Been happily handibotting along, but I've hit a weird glitch that's baffling me. I have a vcarve pro file that is a trace of a bitmap. The toolpath is using the 90 degree V cutter set to do a single outline engrave pass at .0125". I attempted this on some acrylic and everything looked great until about a third of the way through. All of a sudden, the bit dug in about .25"by deagan492 - Handibot Forum
Thanks! Those are great tips. I'm fascinated trying to do reverse engineering thought experiments to try and figure out what led to the sizing if the components. They don't seem to be natively metric or imperial. But I'm confident that I'm ignorant of a long string of design decisions that addressed various constraints to end up with this layout. It's been inteby deagan492 - Handibot Forum
I'm trying to figure out how to position my Handibot V1.1 to have the cut space be where I want it to. I did a bunch of measurements tonight and none of them ended with intuitive values. I was surprised that the point of the notches carved at the top and bottom of the Y axis (representing a value on the X axis) was not aligned with where the 'bot was cutting X=0 (I tested a cut withby deagan492 - Handibot Forum
The v1.1 is up and orderable (I bought mine today!) as of 3/12/15. Congratulations to the Handibot team!! Getting a tool (hardware or software,) past the dot-zero release is a big milestone. In many ways, it's not until you're past dot-zero that you're really grounded as a product. Kudos to ShopBot and Handibot for having such an open process. The team dev updates were fantaby deagan492 - Handibot Forum
I recognize this is not directly what the topic was about, but it's tangentially related enough to possibly be useful to some readers. A lot of folks in the 3D printing community make 3D lithophanes (http://www.vectric.com/products/pvc/features/3d-lithophane.html) from standard photographs. A lithophane converts value (light/dark) to height. There is a tool on Thingiverse (http://by deagan492 - Handibot Forum
