The macro I have on my bot does not use the SU command. I added it, but it did not appear to work. I am wondering if somehow I have either a problem with the hardware or a problem with the software/firmware. The reason I am wondering this is that I am getting a lot of inconsistent results. I have random cases (not repeatable) where the machine simply does not ask for me to press the green bby Zeeri - Handibot Forum
Tried SU,0 in my script and it failed to work as I expected. Is it possible I have not updated something? I am getting very strange and inconsistent results at times. I will attach my script. It works except for the Finish subroutine where I have the router back off after tapping the grounding plate. The back off should just move it 6.35mm (1/4"), but the router actually backs off by moby Zeeri - Handibot Forum
Well, I think I was wrong. It appears that the metric works fine, but none of the macros I have been trying to run work with metric. My guesses at how the macro worked were incorrect. Essentially the motors move in such small increments and such short distances (#2/3) that the machine isn't calibrating, and that is due to the measurements being hard coded in the macro in inches. One followup question: I am trying to get the macro to output some system variables so I can debug what is happening. I'd like them to be messages in a dialog, similar to the comment/pause pattern for displaying a message and waiting before continuing the script. The docs you directed me to indicate there are several ways to do this, but none appear to work (they are all marked red in tby Zeeri - Handibot Forum
I found the shopbot control software page and downloaded what appears to be the latest version (3.8.42 6/27/16). I had to go to the help button (?) and tell it to get out of simple mode (forgot the exact wording) in order to see the command console. It is now performing as you described. Thank you!by Zeeri - Handibot Forum
I modified the handibot configuration yesterday to use Metric instead of Imperial units and immediately ran into problems with the motors moving incredibly slowly. This is most evident when running macro #2 or 3 to calibrate the XYZ axis's. Essentially the motors move at such small increments that the scripts time out and it fails to properly calibrate. I looked at the scripts and intoby Zeeri - Handibot Forum
Thanks! That document covers 80% of what I need to write a functional macro. As I examine macro #2 (the original Z zeroing macro), I am seeing commands like `VA,,,-.25,,,,,,-.25`. Where can I find the parameter lists and detailed function descriptions for routines like this one? They appear to be GCode commands, but I am having some difficulty finding a proper documentation of all GCodeby Zeeri - Handibot Forum
I just switched to metric from imperial and tried to re-run the macro. Interestingly it did not appear to be moving the router along the z-axis toward my grounding plate. Instead it was making a growling noise. Upon closer inspection it appears that it is in fact lowering, but so slowly you can barely see it. My guess (without docs on the macro language and commands) is that the macro is notby Zeeri - Handibot Forum
Can someone point me to a guide/docs for writing macros? I have built a custom Z centering device and am modifying a copy of the corresponding macro (#2). Unfortunately I am not getting the correct result (z is 1.6 inches above the work piece when fabmo says it should be 2"). I need documentation that will explain the various commands. I used the fix described here to restore my macros and apps to factory original. Things are back to business as usual now. Thanks for the help.by Zeeri - Handibot Forum
Thanks Ted & Brian. Since there are no gears, I won't worry about the grinding. I will fiddle with the approach speed in macro 3 as suggested and see if I can slow it down some. Hopefully I won't need to clamp it down quite so much then. I did not notice where it tells me that the job goes outside the bounds of machine. I will have to re-examine the user interface. Thank you for the reply Ted. I just finished running the firmware update prior to seeing your response. I also ran the factory reset earlier in an attempt to get it working. After running them both I wanted to make sure the software was still up to date so I re-ran the 1.2.0 update. Fortunately after all of that it is working properly again - I can get to the dashboard. Unfortunately it wiby Zeeri - Handibot Forum
I also tried the development version (head) for the software. It has the same issue with not being able to access the dashboard. It did have an error compiling one of the optional components (node-gyp), but reported overall success.by Zeeri - Handibot Forum
So I am as certain as I can be that I am running 1.2.0 of the software. I updated successfully to 1.2 - but there isn't any notification on the update page that I can see as to what I currently am running. Showing a version number on the firmware and software in the info page might be nice. I did not update the firmware since the page warns that doing so unnecessarily is not without risby Zeeri - Handibot Forum
Apparently the updates were doing something. I finally got tired of clicking the link and rebooted the Handibot. When I got back to the site on port 81 (80 still is not working), the UI had changed significantly - with a lot more information and control over the update process. While it is a lot of fun exploring an undocumented system, I imagine this may be frustrating to some.by Zeeri - Handibot Forum
Has anyone tried putting in some switches to stop the motors when the reach the end of the screws? Currently my Handibot gets to the end of the screw and grinds in order to find its position when I put in a new bit. While I am not sure about how this affects wear on the Handibot, I do know it causes me problems if I don't have the bot clamped to the work piece. When it isn't clampeby Zeeri - Handibot Forum
Thanks for the reply Brian. Here is some more input - my experience with a failed update. My failed update (updated via the Handibot web configuration page) caused me to be unable to connect to the Handibot web server again. I tried many things, including pressing the little black button on the side of the Edison card. Unfortunately none of these things allowed me to reconnect, and the Handby Zeeri - Handibot Forum
Hi, What is (or where is) the procedure for manually updating the Fabmo software on the handibot? My problem is that my connection to the internet is not incredibly reliable, so large downloads are often corrupted unless I used specialized software to download from my off site servers. Add to that the weak antenna on the handibot (in my experience/opinion) and it makes updating it challenginby Zeeri - Handibot Forum
Unfortunately I don't have enough information to be able to answer that. Generally I avoid directly connecting to the Handibot and put it directly onto the wifi network. This last run I did leave it in AP mode and it seemed fine. Both cuts were done without needing to reboot or reconnect.by Zeeri - Handibot Forum
Thank you Bill. I was not reading the word Macro in the error literally enough, and was translating it into a more generic meaning: function, which all the codes really are. With your information I did find that the macro #6 was missing, so I recreated it with the commands you listed. It is now working. I suspect that I accidentally deleted the macro when I was poking around. Since you wby Zeeri - Handibot Forum
I am trying to run a fairly simple cut using vcarve to generate the commands for the handibot (v2), and this has worked for me in the past. Today however it is for some reason giving me trouble with the C6 command to start the spindle. The specific error I receive is: Can't run custom cut: C6 macro not found. Any ideas why? I get the same error when I send just the C6 command to the haby Zeeri - Handibot Forum
