Yes, I get prompted with a toolchange that I have to accept before the cut starts. I will update the macros. Thanks.by Brian King - Handibot Forum
Thanks Mark! I have been wondering about the laser alignment...food for thought.by Brian King - Handibot Forum
Hi everyone, As I continue to make progress using the tool, I am ready for more precision work requiring me to, for example, cut something exactly in the center of the stock. Assuming I set it up in VCarve properly, I'm struggling with positioning the stock so that the cut actually happens where it is supposed to. In other words, let's say I build a table top panel that's 4'by Brian King - Handibot Forum
Sorry for the late reply... To answer your questions, the router will turn on at the very beginning of the cut before the Handibot starts moving along its 3 axes; but once it starts moving as if it's making the cut, the router turns off. The whole on/off sequence happens in less than 3 seconds from pushing the green go button on FabMo. I don't hear a click when it turns off unexby Brian King - Handibot Forum
Can anyone from Handibot chime in?? This past weekend I spent more time with the tool. When I first booted the tool and set everything up, again the router turned off right after turning on and I quickly canceled the job. I turned the machine off for a few minutes, reset everything, and then it worked great. So is there any advice other than being VERY careful on the first cut after bootinby Brian King - Handibot Forum
And by the way, my firmware was up to date and I didn't even instal the macros. So literally nothing was different from the last time.by Brian King - Handibot Forum
Ok, so I got back to it today. Ran the exact same job that worked the first time but wouldn't work the second time because the router shut itself off. And now this time everything was back to normal. Perfect cut. Hanbibot folks, there's a glitch in the firmware somewhere. When I was having trouble last week, I did turn the machine off and then on a couple times, and it didn't hby Brian King - Handibot Forum
I will start with the updates. I will post the GCode when I get back in town later this week. Thanks.by Brian King - Handibot Forum
Hi everyone, After a few months away from the tool, I got back to it and had a major success (for me at least) earlier this week. Produced a toolpath file with VCarve, and it cut perfectly several times on some scrap using the FabMO interface. So today I loaded up the exact same toolpath file in FabMO. I hit go, the router turned on very briefly, then turned itself off, but the the tool coby Brian King - Handibot Forum
Hi everyone, I am new to Vcarve, and I am struggling to produce files that cut properly. I've spent some time with the tutorials, which are really extensive, but unfortunately they are set up for a larger cutting area that you would find on a standard CNC router -- ie, they can't be run on a Handibot without modification. I don't want to modify. I want to work with files that Iby Brian King - Handibot Forum
I can't thank Ryan and Brian and the Shopbot team enough. Ryan was kind enough to spend more than an hour on the phone with me today to ferret out the issues. For the sake of anyone who might be interested, here are the essential lessons: 1. As currently written, the Quick Start XZY zero macro is misleading. It zeroes X and Y, and it assigns Z to 0, but it DOES NOT actually zero the Z axiby Brian King - Handibot Forum
It's clearly not my day. I am the Director of Innovation at a K-8 school and am not a tech novice (even if I am new to CNC)....but I can't even send a PM in this forum. I keep getting a message that I "did not provide the correct code for the spam prevention check." But there's nowhere to input a code. I even took a screen shot of the PM interface to show that there'by Brian King - Handibot Forum
And now, when I try to run a job via vcarve, the router runs on and then immediately turns off even though it's trying to cut the job. Wasn't quick enough on the stop button and lost a bit. Needless to say I'm having a hard time with this machine!by Brian King - Handibot Forum
Hi - I'm on v1.4.2. The simple updater function says it's the latest version.by Brian King - Handibot Forum
Bill - I am using the alligator clip. I suspect something went wrong that one time. Brianby Brian King - Handibot Forum
I apologize - I wasn't clear. I'm manually zeroing just as you described. Once the Z axis has been zeroed, I'm manually entering new positive Z axis values to move the router rather than use the arrow controls, which cause everything to come out of zero. So this obviously means the machine will zero and hold its zero -- but only if I avoid the arrow controls. And the automaticby Brian King - Handibot Forum
Thanks for the follow-up, Brian. 1. The only jobs I have sent to the handibot have been directly from the Fabmo interface -- the "first cut" protocol and some "sketch" jobs. 2. I don't know what the "touch and go" app is. Sorry. I am a newbie to this and all CNC routing. 3. By manually zeroing the Z axis, I mean getting the router tip just touching the sby Brian King - Handibot Forum
I can confirm that no matter how many times I manually zero, it will come out of alignment the moment I manually move the router. If, however, I enter a value manually into the Z axis and click go, it stays in alignment. I would really like to be able to move the tool around with the controls to get full functionality.by Brian King - Handibot Forum
I am having the same problem. My first attempt at the test cut didn't work -- just cut air. I followed the advice and zeroed the z axis, and the router bit kept on pushing dowward and bent the zero plate. So I attempted to bend it back, then saw this thread in the forum. So I tried Brian's manual method and this time it made the test cut -- but way too deep. I tried zeroing again. Thisby Brian King - Handibot Forum
