Glad that worked for you. It sounds like the software defaulted to our Desktop tool, but you've got it all squared away it seems.by David @ Shopbot Tools - Handibot Forum
Good work, Marc. It looks like you are having depth of cut issues more than anything. What are your Z move and jog speeds? What is your safe Z height? Are you zeroing Z at the top of the material? Roughly how much bit do you have exposed outside the router? Davidby David @ Shopbot Tools - Handibot Forum
Yes, we had a number of jigs we were testing during the filming, one of which was a board with sliding fences to help align lumber for repetitive cuts. We are hopefully posting files today of a simplified version of this that uses the indexing holes in the Handibot base for attachment. We have had good luck with this latest jig.by David @ Shopbot Tools - Handibot Forum
Great first project Thayer! Marc, it sounds like your proximity switch offsets didn't default to the correct value. Go to Tools-Shopbot Setup, click next, check the box in the lower left corner for "I have prox switches..." leave the others unchecked. Click next. Click the bubble for "I like doing things the hard way" Enter -.05" for both X and Y prox switch contaby David @ Shopbot Tools - Handibot Forum
There may be hope yet, Tim. We had a visitor a couple of weeks ago from Sketch it Make it. See here: They are working toward a simple drawing app for ipads and other mac hardware. They are investigating how to get their drawings to easily toolpath to Shopbots, including Handibot. It won't be an overnight effort, but there is work being done on this front for the Mac folks! Tim has it right on. Marc, for pine 2x4 cutting, I typically run the router at 5 with a 1/4" bit with 1/4" pass depth at 1.5-2" per second. That is a good starting place. The bit screams, but the chipload is good. If you post up images of your cuts, we can probably help diagnose your issue. Davidby David @ Shopbot Tools - Handibot Forum
Hi Craig, We are working hard on refining the jigs and should be sharing files very soon. We wish we could simply give you the files for the proof of concept jigs we used during the filming. The reality is that we improved the Handibot base design for the production model and the early prototype jigs are not compatible with the new design. Davidby David @ Shopbot Tools - Handibot Forum
As of today, Thayer has it right. Both the Shopbot control software, and CAD/CAM used to generate toolpaths require a windows environment. Several people have had success running Handibot on Mac hardware. We are working on a new controller that will allow for cross-platform development. We hope to see something in this regard be springtime. Davidby David @ Shopbot Tools - Handibot Forum
Hi Marc, What cut depth per pass are you trying for on 2x4s? What setting do you have the DeWalt router at? Make sure your jog speed is around 2-3"/second for rapid moves above the material. If you have slow comm between your tool and computer, fast moves can lead to lost steps when jogging. Davidby David @ Shopbot Tools - Handibot Forum
Hi Marc, The jigs we showed were all proof of concept. We are happy to share those with you, but hoped to get more finalized versions worked out before releasing them. We appreciate your patience as we make everything available to you. If you have any specific questions, I am happy to help. Davidby David @ Shopbot Tools - Handibot Forum
Hi Marc, I like what you've come up with there. We are working on finalizing a lumber clamping jig; the jigs we showed in our earlier videos were all proof of concept. We fully expect that the jigs we release will be improved upon/ remixed by the Handibot community, but we wanted to think them through fully before making these open designs public. As for your design, if the joint youby David @ Shopbot Tools - Handibot Forum
Erich, fantastic family project. We hope that you will keep posting your projects here on the forum! Davidby David @ Shopbot Tools - Handibot Forum
Hi Craig, On Git, take a look in the handibot-hardware folder and models\HandibotV1.01.00.stp That is an export directly from our engineering model. For folks who have 3D modeling software that want to create accesories for Handibot this model has all of the geometry you would need to build off of. For folks that don't have full modeling software, we've also shared a simplified Sketcby David @ Shopbot Tools - Handibot Forum
@ Tim, Cut 3D retails for $299 from Vectric. We are willing to offer it at a discount to our Kickstarter backers who pledged for a Handibot only. So if you want to call us, we can sell Cut3D for $240. Davidby David @ Shopbot Tools - Handibot Forum
Hi Ahmed, We expect to have Handibot available to purchase in December. We are focusing on getting our Kickstarter tools delivered before we open sales. Keep an eye out for an announcement toward the middle of December. Best, Davidby David @ Shopbot Tools - Handibot Forum
@Tim, I've forwarded this to our web folks. Hopefully we'll have a resolution soon. @Richard, Thank you for the suggestions. I'll see what we can do. @Russ, good looking project! Thanks for sharing and glad you figured out image upload. Keep sharing! @Tony, keep us 'posted' (pun intended). It may be time to reload the software. Davidby David @ Shopbot Tools - Handibot Forum
Hi Marc, We have been posting all of our open-source files and developer resources at . You might want to create an account there to get started. We are planning a roll-out of these same resources at www.handibot.com to make it even easier to access Handibot and accessories design files, and cut files. Everyone has their own way of working, but I like to use 6"x8" as my work areaby David @ Shopbot Tools - Handibot Forum
Great suggestions Marc and Russ. I'll see what we can make happen. Davidby David @ Shopbot Tools - Handibot Forum
Hi Marc, Please do share your file. Should be a faily straight-forward diagnosis. Best, Davidby David @ Shopbot Tools - Handibot Forum

Hi Mark, We have put a lot of effort into making those SWAGs as good as possible. Since we offer a wide range of tools with different capabilities, and with many variable outside our control, it is hard to give a number that will work for all. The best approach to a feed/speed question for Handibot is to let your decisions be guided by chipload calculation with move speeds not to exceed 2&by David @ Shopbot Tools - Handibot Forum
Hi Tony, Can you tell me what the name of the post processor you are using is? If you use Shopbot_TC_inch (or MM), the C6/spindle on command is written in for you. Let me know what you've got and we can take it from there. Hi Mark, We are working on all of our documentation for Handibot, including the very important area of tiling. In the meantime, you might want to check out Vectric's excellent tutorials available on the subject. For example, this might help: Tile Toolpaths Mark Evans Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Starting this as what will become a thread fby David @ Shopbot Tools - Handibot Forum
Good observation, Mark. There are several different ways of acheiving a reliable Z zero and you've mentioned my personal favorite. If you aren't already, try using the "Fixed" button on our keypad screen so that each keystroke correlated to a known, fixed distance once you are close to your desired zero point.by David @ Shopbot Tools - Handibot Forum
Hello, Sorry for any confusion. Our Kickstarter orders do not include Cut 3D; we included information about it in our manual in case anyone wanted to upgrade their software to include it. We've revised the wording in that section of the manual to make this more clear. Thank you for being a part of the Handibot community! Davidby David @ Shopbot Tools - Handibot Forum
