So happy to hear that Robin! Thanks for the update. Let me know if there's anything else that we can do. Brianby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Robin, No problem at all--I'm sorry that it's been taking so long to straighten out your problem. I've been sharing all of this with tech support and the software team and it's sparked a good amount of effort into figuring out the conflict with windows 10 and how to avoid it in the future. Please do let me know how it goes and I'll be sure to keep you updated with aby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Robin, You'll also find this document helpful: It details how to cleanly uninstall SB3 to prepare your PC for a new install.by Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Robin, It's also possible that your antivirus software is blocking the ability to update that .dll file. Would it be possible for you to turn the antivirus off temporarily until you've completed the install? Brianby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Robin, That "access denied" message makes me think that you might need to be running the install as an Admin of your PC. If you right click on the install file and select "run as administrator" it should allow you to delete .dll files. Brianby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Mark, Many of the settings that you could tweak in SB3 can now be found in the configurations menu in FabMo. Dialog boxes don't work quite the same in FabMo as they did in SB3--but from my talks with the FabMo guys this is something that will be addressed on an app level rather than writing SBP code that prompts questions. Most of the commands still work in SB4 even though they donby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Robin, Any time you want to update--the latest version of SB3 will be posted under "Current Software" on this web-page: Please let me know how it goes--I want to help get you back on your feet! Brianby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Mark, I've passed along your request for profile support to the FabMo guys and they've moved that up on their list of features to add in coming updates. Most important of course is sorting out the accessory driver function. This was a bit of a mistake on my part, not letting them know how crucial fourth axis support was going to be right out of the gate for people who already owneby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Robin, It appears I may have led you astray! I was talking with the software guys about this problem and it looks like we're figured out some of the settings in windows 10 that lead to communications interruptions in SB3. Take a look at this doc here: With this in hand--try reinstalling the latest control software and be sure to set the software up for handibot--(under the utilitby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Thanks Mark! Hopefully you've received your new tool by now and will have some interesting feedback for us soon.by Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Richard, We don't have any new info on this yet unfortunately... Brianby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Robin, Don't give up! We've found that an older version of the ShopBot Control software doesn't suffer from the windows 10 bug; we're still working to correct this in the next update but for now you can get the older version here: It will look just slightly different but has no less functionality than what you're using now. I hope this helps and will kby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Robin, Have you started working on a different computer lately? Or have you recently upgraded to Windows 10? I've seen some customers with windows 10 computers have USB communication problems that cause the kind of stuttering that you're describing. Because it isn't binding up when you move it around with the power off--I think that the problem may not be mechanical.by Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Robin, Just wondering--although there was stuttering when you manually moved the X axis--was it easy to move it from side to side with the power off? There is naturally a little bit of stuttering when you back-drive the stepper motors. I'm curious because it may help us figure out if your issue is with the motors or with your bearings. Brianby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
The main issue is that the new design for the 3" indexer (what it's called in the shopbot store) creates a tight fit for the screwdriver you need to use to tighten the bolts that hold it in place. I feel bad about this because the metal frame is something that I designed while I was working on ShopBot products...however, one of my coworkers made the switch to hex head bolts that can beby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
David, the pictures that you attached aren't loading for me for some reason but I think I know what you're talking about. The guys at ShopBot have started using hex bolts to attach the headstock to the base--I think we should start doing the same at handibot. I'll get the design changed and would be happy to send you a revised version of the plate with bolts of you would like. Bby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
David, In the configurations menu--click the tab for "machine". There you'll find the speed values for manual movements. Unfortunately the change from in to mm does not alter these values currently. I've made the software team aware of this so that they might be able to fit that into the next update. for now, just enter a value of 75 for x/y speed and 25 for z Brianby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum

Mark, ShopBot and Handibot are taking a year off from most of the big shows in order to prepare for a few special events in recognition of ShopBot's 20th anniversary. So we only had a couple of folks visit San Mateo as observers. I will say that we're working on some new and very interesting things...but I'm going to hold back on details for now until everything is firby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum

Hey Eric! Sorry that you've been having trouble. I created a little document that I hope will help you with the process (along with others who have been asking similar questions). Mark--we're hard at work getting your tool ready! We unfortunately had a vendor issue that delayed the arrival of some key parts by a week--however just as I was working on this doc a truck arrived to delivby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Steve, The power supply does auto-sense the voltage...so the XYZ and wifi will work. However, your router is a 220V router and will not work on US power. As long as you just want to move the tool around and not cut anything yet, you'll be fine. Brianby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Just wanted to let everyone know that I've just added a new accessory to the Handibot store: The drag knife holder We've been getting a lot of requests lately for a way to make use of the Donek Drag Knife with the handibot. The drag knife can be used to cut leather, vinyl, paper and cardboard with a standard razor blade. This adapter allows you to hold any tool with a half inch shankby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Mark, I hope that I wasn't misleading in the editing of that video--I still, as a rule, take 0.01" passes no matter what size ShopBot I'm using. However, I could defnitely have been more aggressive here because I came back with a full depth finishing pass to clean up the edges. Brianby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum

Mark, Something I've discovered with those line lasers that we get from adafruit--the little filters that they pop in front of the lasers to create the line are not always installed perpendicular to the laser...this means that the lines are sometimes a bit skewed so even when the sight is designed to have the lines at a perfect 90 degree angle, a smaller angle is sometimes required toby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Mark, The original laser alignment tool will work on the new handibot. I've built a prototype of a new version that will clip into the same magnetic part of the router bracket that the dust foot clips to--I'm thinking it will be even easier to use than the original. The hose for the dust collection simply screws into the mid-plate of the exoframe. It's a left handed thby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
I took a couple hours the other day to work on a small jewelry making project with the handibot; you can check out the story on the blog or just watch the video here:by Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
