Been watching some videos - just had a couple questions pop up: 1. The manual rotary axis mentions that you shouldn't mount material greater than 16 inches in it when used as an indexer. The rotary axis mentioned the same thing - but when you check the Shopbot site on the axis it would allow for 36". If I were to make a longer sled for the accessory base, could I also theoreticalby RS - Handibot Forum
Interesting concept. I understand how it works, and it is a really neat idea. That being said - I wouldn't want to be beholden to owning that tape and having to constantly buy it. Only way I could see it as usable to me is if I could put the tape on a fixture instead of the work piece so I don't have to constantly use it.by RS - Handibot Forum
I haven't gotten to a Rotary indexer myself, but I've been reading up a lot on it. I thought about doing the same thing you are - and it looks like the best bet is to have a square model in V-carve. You would need some way to do modeling - perhaps check into using google sketchup (free). Import it, then unwrap it. I believe you can V-carve/pocket/etc onto the model. Again -by RS - Handibot Forum
I am relatively new to Handibot, but I'm pretty familiar with the software side of things. Short version: Find the Vectric Videos on Tool path Tiling. Read everything you can on the subject. Instead of using a reference mark and dowels, you clamp the index jig to the material and use it to index the CNC machine. If you understand the tiling feature, then how you use the Jig should becby RS - Handibot Forum
Just wanted to bump this and see if you had a chance to look at cut files. I'm probably going to pull the trigger and buy an accessory base, but I'd love to be able to make different sleds - and a cad file/model would be very helpful! Thanks!by RS - Handibot Forum
Ok - Just want to be clear. On the shop description, it mentions the rotary axis can take up to 3" cylindrical parts; but you are saying it can actually take a 3" square piece of stock - not a 3" diagonal piece (which would be closer to 2" square stock)?by RS - Handibot Forum
Hi, I'm very interested in adding a rotary indexer to my arsenal. A few questions for those who already have one with the handibot: 1) It mentions a 3" diameter, - but 3" diagonal on a square blank. I'm most likely to cut square blanks - and if my calculations are correct, I'll fit about a 2"-2 1/8" square on the 3" indexer - meaning about a 2"by RS - Handibot Forum
Just FYI, for some reason this attachment doesn't work at all!by RS - Handibot Forum
I noticed looking at the Accessory base in the shop there is a 6-8 week lead time. I was a little disappointed until I saw the link about rotary machining that also linked to an Accessory DIY instructions. However, I can't find actual dimensions or cut files on the Base anywhere. I see a full BOM, but was hoping to find some cad or cut files. Are these released anywhere? Seems sillyby RS - Handibot Forum
Got it all squared away. I take it anything in those boxes overwrites anything in code? For whatever reason if I changed it in the macro (code), it would not change. Also - loving Fabmo so far. Any chance they will sell the control boards separate in the future? I'd love to switch my other CNC over to Fabmo.by RS - Handibot Forum
I'd love to know the bit/material.by RS - Handibot Forum
I can't seem to figure out how to zero the Z with the touch off plate. I switched a cutter and ran the #3 macro to set the cutter height. It is very repeatable, but every time I zero/etc, I'm always .09 away from the top of the material. I move it down and manually zero it for now just to get by. I've tried changing a couple of the variables (plate offset/etc) to add thatby RS - Handibot Forum
I can't wait for my Handibot 2.0 to arrive, but I have a question about the indexing jig. I've found about every video I can on the thing and watched it a bunch of times, and I've heard mention the indexing jig just isn't very accurate the further out you get from the start point (which makes sense). On every video I can find where people have used it, they always startby RS - Handibot Forum
I can't see the files either, I think it is a forum attachment issue. Could you upload them to a dropbox or something similar? I'm interested to see the issue, since I want to order the rotary axis in the future!by RS - Handibot Forum
