I worked in electronics enough to know that technical taps are a real thing and very useful in diagnosing problems. It might have just been a dirty terminal but I will not be surprised if I go down and find it dead again.by cuervo - Handibot Forum
I went ahead and got a little deeper into the router. I pulled off the top circuit board assembly that I assume had the motor control inside as well as removed the brush assemblies on both sides. I just went over it all with a brush and a vacuum to clean all the dust off, cleaned the male spade connectors with a light sanding and then tightened the female connectors to ensure a tight fit and itby cuervo - Handibot Forum
so I put the 2nd set in and got no change to it. I took the top back off and checked for continuity as far as I can trace the wires into the motor mechanism. Not sure what I did but it started working and I was able to finish the program off. Tonight I come back out and the machine has not moved short of zeroing it out but once I again I have the lights on on the bottom but no action. I haveby cuervo - Handibot Forum
so I ordered a new set of brushes(4) and then waited the 2 days to get them in. I just swapped them out and its little to no change. A couple of times when it first powered up it would spin for a split second but every other time I get lights and no action I guess I will try the other set of brushes just because but what else can I check? I took out my meter and checkec and I have 120v ac wheby cuervo - Handibot Forum
I was having some issues earlier where on 2 occasions it suddenly stopped in the middle of a program and my laptop acted like it lost communication for about 30 secs till a warning popped up "A very bad error has occurred". Both times I rebooted, reconnected, re-zero'd and then the 2nd time it would go through no problem. After I ran the first two I started the 3rd and for soby cuervo - Handibot Forum
I thought I had the idea of tiling down at least in the X-axis. I had it set for 6" with a 1/4" overlap but for some reason it wants to hit the x-limit on the anything after the first tile and messes up on the right hand side of each tile. Do I need to make it less than 6"? Is my overlap wrong?by cuervo - Handibot Forum
my shop vac sounds like it has a very unhappy bearing suddenly tonight. It was a cheap sob and I was afraid it would not be up to the longer run times. Is there a type/brand that you have had good luck with? I figure with black friday I might be able to find something but I really am not sure which are better?by cuervo - Handibot Forum
I think it was something similar. I think I was trying to make it too tall or something but after watchging a different vid I was able to get it . Thanks. for your time.by cuervo - Handibot Forum
excellent I was hoping it was that easy. Now the next problem with the extended run times is that I miss my laptop while its down in the shop. I have been connecting it directly to the handibot and started to look into hooking it up over my network. My only problem is that it will not let me download the fabmo minder saying it isn't designed to work on laptop/pc's? This laptop hby cuervo - Handibot Forum
I am just getting into the 3d carving abilities of the handibot and now that I am having run times that are in hours for some of them are there any PM's I need to do? Is there a point that after so many hours of it running that I should pause it to let things cool down? Just curious, thanks again.by cuervo - Handibot Forum
I have tried messing with it for the past 24 hrs but its still the same problem. I can import it and set up the size and everything, but then after that its gone. I can see that it has a layer made for it but I can't see anything to set up after that.by cuervo - Handibot Forum
I downloaded an stl file from etsy I wanted to use and following this video I was able to open it. It shows up as a layer now, but there is no image vector that shows up to select. What am I doing wrong?by cuervo - Handibot Forum
I tried to make mine act or look like yours but could never get it to look or work the same. I ended up taking yours and then adding to it to complete it. This project was all under the idea of figuring out the long board/sign jig and getting my feet wet and learning a little bit and I can say that it was successful in that aspect. The wedges I made and now shimmed up seem to hold the materiaby cuervo - Handibot Forum
in the preview it shows it all being removed. The "cut to boundry" area is a bit confusing for me and I could not seem to find much info on what the different types meant. Playing with the different settings now I can see a little bit of the difference between them. Is there a link you could direct me to that explains them? I see what your saying about the center of the weaves. I sby cuervo - Handibot Forum
I am trying out the long board/sign jig for the first time and decided to try 3d carving for the first time. I just picked a weave pattern to go around the boarder and used mdf for the first time just to see how it goes expecting to have to make some adjustments and just curious if you could give any hints. I made some large wedges out of 1/4" mdf that I designed to go under the cutting maby cuervo - Handibot Forum
I have already learned how helpful a syringe of cutting oil is with aluminum and figured it would be helpful here as well. I assume the same o-flute for aluminum is good for copper as well?by cuervo - Handibot Forum
I hate to split hairs but it took you 3 entire minutes to answer that question...... Can't you type faster?! Thanks againby cuervo - Handibot Forum
I am making an alignment tool to help me get my material in the proper place. I just a piece of .2" thick plexi that fits inside of the metal base portion, on top of the plastic. I want to engrave with a diamond tip bit a simple grid on it so that with it in place I can see through it to the material below to line up. If I make a 6" x 8" grid will there be any problem running thby cuervo - Handibot Forum
oh I see what you mean now. The grip would be good but I am not sure it would last. The rubber on the bottom is similar to what I was thinking and found in my garage for another project. I am trying to find someone with a laser cutter to help out. Do those machines use v-carve as well to where it would not be a big deal to give them the file design for them to cut?by cuervo - Handibot Forum
what is overmolding? I was thinking something similar to HDPE but with a little more grip that could be machined into shape. I looked at that site and I have no idea what all those products are. I was surprised to find vids showing a cnc router cutting rubber for a gasket and forgot I have a piece of 1/8" rubber for this. I can't seem to find any info on bits/speeds or feeds for itby cuervo - Handibot Forum
now that I have started with aluminum I would like to make a gas, brake, and clutch pedal for my car. I have seen many styles out of just aluminum but I would like to have a little more grip to the pedal and wondered if there was a plastic/rubber material that you have used and could recommend? I only need to inlay it around the edge and a couple small spots in the middle.by cuervo - Handibot Forum

I forgot to post the finished pics. Turned out really nice. I am really enjoying all the possibilities this tool has opened up in my car audio hobby.by cuervo - Handibot Forum
sorry for the repeated posts but I have been working on it and thinking about it in between. Today I think I figured out that I was just not being aggressive enough with how much material it was taking out. When I cut the number of passes in half it started to work better and then by removing a few more it was throwing chips everywhere. I was finally able to finish up the little part I was making but not with out cheating. In the end I had to zero the Z-axis at what was a -.06 to be able to get to the bottom of the aluminum. Is there a chance it has to do with the fact I had to create the cutting bit parameters for the 0-flute for I got for the aluminum?by cuervo - Handibot Forum
Today I tried unplugging it, removing the router to be sure there wasn't anything blocking it, rezero'd it a couple of dozen times and for some reason the Z-axis is drifting from .02-.08. Every time I ran the program it was off a bit and sometimes even just raising and then lowering it caused a difference. I checked the software update but it said I was current. Any helpby cuervo - Handibot Forum
the preview shows it going down .02 per pass the way it is supposed to. I have the aluminum mounted down to my spoilboard with two 1/4-20 screws and it is not moving. I know that it has the room to go down further as I can move it down on the screen enough to go past the material. While its cutting it shows on the screen that its going down but it never goes past the 0 point for the Z. Last nby cuervo - Handibot Forum
I finally got around to starting this. I got the aluminum mounted, homed the tool, zero'd the Z and got started. I only did a light test pass .02 deep the first time to see if the feed and speeds were ok and it looked nice. I went in to do the full cut and for some reason now I can't get the tool to go below the zero point on the Z-axis when its cutting. It shows that its lowering wby cuervo - Handibot Forum
