Mark did you send those files to me? If you did I missed them...by Eric Schimelpfenig - Handibot Forum
Exactly who is the voice of experience here? Exactly 0 people on planet Earth have cut a Wikihouse with a Handibot Seriously though, I think I could rig up something so I could locate those slots fairly quick... I keep thinking about that, then I feel like that a more "production" line type setup might be easier and produce more consistent results.by Eric Schimelpfenig - Handibot Forum
Which files are you talking about Mark, the large material jig files?by Eric Schimelpfenig - Handibot Forum
Windows tablets work great for the Handibot, and they've come WAY down in price, you no longer need a $900 dollar Surface pro to run one, you can do it on a $200 dollar Dell tablet. In fact, the Venue Pro 8 that I use to run mine actually performs really well, I use Sketchup and VCarve on it with no problems at all. As far as the Android and iOS control, it's not available now, anby Eric Schimelpfenig - Handibot Forum
I had a thought about doing the big panels on a table saw or a big panel saw... The only problem is that the panels are full of slots that have to be located perfectly so that they interlock with the framing members. I am still experimenting but I am wondering that even though it would be quicker to cut out the panels on a table saw, setting up jigs would be more time consuming then just cuttingby Eric Schimelpfenig - Handibot Forum
Yup, I believe I got it. I'll see what I can figure out...by Eric Schimelpfenig - Handibot Forum
I know Bill is working away on it, should be soon!by Eric Schimelpfenig - Handibot Forum
I'll let the ShopBot techs answer this better than me... But in my experience there is a buffer of code that is sent to the machine.... USB communication from a computer isn't like a phone call all the time, it's not live. Sometimes commands are pushed to the Handibot in bursts. So if the Handibot is in the middle of a burst of commands, the "STOP" command needs to &quby Eric Schimelpfenig - Handibot Forum
What kind of dovetail bit do you use? I may have to add this to my list of projects to try out...by Eric Schimelpfenig - Handibot Forum
Nice catch! Thanks Mark, it's all fixed now!by Eric Schimelpfenig - Handibot Forum
Hey everyone, as you may have seen from other posts I've been working with the large material jig that will be available soon from Shopbot. To make the jig work effectively, you need to setup your files properly. Right now I do this with VCarve using it's tiling feature. I worked up a little video on how it all works: Watch it here The script I was talking about near the end isby Eric Schimelpfenig - Handibot Forum
I think they made it a long press so you really have to "mean it" to start a cutting file. Also, if you hit the red button, you can pause a cut if you need to fix something. When you hit that red button the machine will stop, pull up to a safe Z height and give you options to resume, quit, or nudge the machine. I've used this before when a small part got cut out and jumped off tby Eric Schimelpfenig - Handibot Forum
I thought I had responded to this earlier, glad I could help!by Eric Schimelpfenig - Handibot Forum
Not a problem. We're always here if you want us to promote your work. Keep it up, you're clearly doing some really nice stuff!by Eric Schimelpfenig - Handibot Forum
When you're about to hit "OK" to start the spindle, you can long press on that green button and it'll do that for you. Useful if you have a laptop and you want your hands on the machine before you start it up.by Eric Schimelpfenig - Handibot Forum
Agreed! I actually have another shelf that I did, I am going to put up pics and DXFs for it soon, it's much simpler. Right now I am just trying to find projects for Handibot users to do. I can do a lot of the heavy lifting on my end as far as creating the digital files needed to make some of this stuff.by Eric Schimelpfenig - Handibot Forum
That's one of the coolest thing about Shopbot is that they are very open sourced friendly. We'd of course give you full accreditation. With GitHub it's really easy to be able to edit your own stuff, so you still have all the control over it too. Why don't you PM me your email address and we can get it setup.by Eric Schimelpfenig - Handibot Forum
I can't speak for Bill, but I think we're close to having the jigs ready to go... Stay tuned...by Eric Schimelpfenig - Handibot Forum
Hey all, I have been working on building a Wikihouse since I last at the chance to build one with the Shopbot and Sketchup team last October. You can read about it here. I am experimenting with different materials, namely 23/32" thick OSB because it appears to be structurally strong, and it's really cheap. The other day I cut out some test joints so I can give them to my engineerby Eric Schimelpfenig - Handibot Forum
Mark, those are great jigs! I am brainstorming up a way to make shelves from construction scrap (2x4's and floor joists) and just such a jig was what I was thinking of. I am trying to gather files and material for Shopbot beginners. Would you be willing to share your files on GitHub? I would post them for you, and you'd still be able to edit them....by Eric Schimelpfenig - Handibot Forum
Hey 0,0, that's a fantastic project! If you want to share it with the community we can get it up on GitHub so you, and others can add and contribute to it. Where you have those slots, what did you do for clearance? If you're using 1/2" ply, did you make your slot openings exactly .5 or did you make them ever so slightly bigger?by Eric Schimelpfenig - Handibot Forum
I for one can't wait to see what people are going to start building!by Eric Schimelpfenig - Handibot Forum
If you want any of them converted to DXF or straight up cutting files for the Handibot, let me know.by Eric Schimelpfenig - Handibot Forum
Mark, I am going to forward this to the Shopbot team to get you straightened out. I am not sure where you are located, but if it's cold maybe that's your problem. I am in New England, and my garage has limited heat. I had been leaving my Handibot in there, but the cold makes it bind up, and miss steps when you do a quick move. If anyone is looking for some cool joinery that is pretty unique to CNC, this article has all kinds of them, explained very well:by Eric Schimelpfenig - Handibot Forum
I am working on a way to make some garage shelves so I went on Google and started looking for some plans and ideas. While this is a little too fancy for my garage, I think it's pretty cool. It's called the "Terrain Shelf" If anyone is interested in building this, I can convert it to DXF or Sketchup. With the large material jig it should be pretty straightforward.by Eric Schimelpfenig - Handibot Forum
