Sure! Actually the quick-bit was designed by someone over at ShopBot--I just adapted it for handibot use. However, I don't think there'd be a problem with posting the original plans.by Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Agree! I've been really impressed by the responsiveness of the tool on ethernet. I have been using my lenovo tablet (which has ethernet connectivity through its USB-C port with a converter) and been really happy. Only shame of it is, tablets can't be connected and charging at the same time (ethernet uses the charging port) so you can't leave it permanently connected.by Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Hey Steve--I'm afraid I'm not going to be of too much help here...but I've gotten in touch with one of the programmers that uses a mac for development. He should be in tomorrow and able to answer your question. Brianby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Steve, Ugh! What a mess--I'm really sorry about that. I think that the best way to proceed is to manually load a more recent version of fabmo onto your card by directly plugging it into your computer. The doc here: describes the process for performing a reflash from your PC. This will take you to version 1.4.2 which is a stable and reliable release. From there you can perform the 1.6.by Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
I currently order mine through digikey--though there's no telling how long each has been on the shelf there. The ones that I just ordered are like 250mAh which should be double what we were getting previously.by Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
I've ordered some higher current capacity batteries to try out--The line lasers run on between 2.5VDV and 5VDC--The CR2032 batteries are 3V batteries--but it appears that they may be draining too quickly while the laser is on. I'll follow up here as soon as I've got ahold of some new batteries to test.by Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Sorry to see you go! The developer edition is still a really good tool. If anyone has been following my twitter @Brian_Handibot you'll see that I just did a custom job to upgrade another Developer Edition handibot to a Large Sheet Tool. It worked out well and I'd like to offer it as a product. If anyone wants to buy Godi's handibot and upgrade it to a Large Sheet Tool feel freeby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
How far off is it? trying to figure out if the solution is tweaking something--or working on a whole new method for doing the Y-axis tile move.by Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Bob, You should have received an email from Andy with a download link. Let me know if you did not! Brianby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Bob, I'm on it! will get back to you all soon. Brianby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Hey, sorry I took so long to respond! What kind of function are you trying to achieve with your program? There are two ways to create variables &variables and $variables. &variables (i.e. &xoffset = ) are temporary variables, they'll only be stored for the duration of the cut file and will be erased at the end. Use these for storing info in a file...like if you want to sby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Bob, Check out my response in the stop button thread--I think that these two things are related to the same issue of connection latency. I've never been happy with the wireless response time on FabMo and I think that direct connectivity is going to be the best way forward here. We've been so intent on eliminating the tether but I think that the performance improvements from a direby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
In talking with our software team last week--I have discovered that it is now possible to connect directly to a fabmo tool over ethernet. I will be rolling out instructions for this over the course of this week. For the newer cards (two stacked green pcbs) it is as simple as plugging an ethernet cable into the top of the card and waiting for the network to pop up on your computer or other device.by Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
In trying to pump more info into the handibot wiki, I've gone through all of the apps we've ever worked on here and added them to this page: The github interface makes it hard to see which things are actually apps and don't make it obvious where to download them. I will need to go through these apps over the next week to confirm that they all work (many software updates have beby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
I've been trying to flesh out the handibot wiki a bit over the weekend--my main goal was to move the documentation that our production guys use to the web so that we could give everyone tablets for reference rather than print-outs that get out of date and lost. It occurred to me that, with a little polish, this could be a way to present info to people who want to build their own stuff.by Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Bob, It shouldn't matter which one is picked. The way that pop-up messages are written into ShopBot code is by writing our message and then inserting a PAUSE--the pause prompts a popup message that always has two options--resume or quit (it was originally used for things like bit changes and stuff). At that point in the routine, all of the system variables have been updated. You couldby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Ok I've upgraded and downgraded and upgraded again to test the app--I've made some changes to the app so you should go download and install the new version from the wiki page. I liked being able to just run the routine with one click without having to install a macro--but I think that the macro install and then run method is going to be the most foolproof through all versions of FabMo..by Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Hey guys--sorry it took me so long to get back to this thread. I'm working on the quick-bit app today. I've got my tool here, loaded with 1.6.1 and the most recent app from my wiki page: input #5 lights up when I press the quick bit and turns off when I let go. Running the second macro in the app (listed as for 1.6.0 and above) works as expected. Now I'm going to dowby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
I'll talk to the software guys about how to install a custom profile that will save your settings that way--so you don't have to worry about something getting messed up.by Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Ah--when you upgraded FabMo (or changed profiles) that would have reset the router start and stop macros. The beginning of an SBP from VCarve should have a C6 command which will call macro #6 to start the router. Make sure you're in the Handibot profile (set from the configuration screen) and then double check that macro.by Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Yes--the Adventure Edition can be upgrades to the Large Sheet Tool base. V1.1 and earlier Developer Edition tools don't quite fit the base and will need more work before being made available as an upgradeby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Cobb, Sorry for being away for a while--I've been on the road and the forum has been a little glitchy...but I think we're all good now, and I'm home! Have you updated FabMo recently? There's a new feature in the 1.6.0 version that lets you select a tool profile. The "default" profile has some kinda wacky speed settings...so it is good to make sure youby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Wazza, Thank you so much for checking that for us...was hopeful that we'd found the root cause but we'll have to keep searching! Glad that the alt relay is working though.by Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Wazza we're looking into this problem more deeply here--We've had 5 units with failed relays like yours...all have been international tools.....so that makes me think it has something to do with the power being supplied...The power supply in the back of the handibot is auto-switching so it will change to 220V mode with no problems. It outputs 24V to power the board which is then steppedby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
I've got 1.6.2 installed on the tool that I'm taking with me to the LockDowel show in California...so I'm banking on it working for me! but it is always a different situation when you're in a crowded place with more wifi interference. Will let you know how it goes.by Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
I was just talking about this with someone over the weekend (The ethernet connectivity). It should be possible to plug directly into the ethernet port on the newer fabmo cards (the double-decker boards with two green pcbs stacked)--however there is a driver that needs to be installed on the edison to make it work--that was where we left it last night with the intention to talk with the software tby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
I looks like your cuts are exceeding the X-axis travel of the tool. If the tool tries to travel past 6" in the X axis, it will collide with the hard stop on the axis and "lose steps" meaning the X axis will continue trying to move (and thinking that it is moving) while the tool is actually stuck on the hard stop. The rest of the moves continue as normal and you get a flat line wherby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Wazza, I think the Quick-Bit problem is still something to do with software--which I'm still working on figuring out. Glad the relay swap worked! I usually send out a new interface board for that problem--but it occured to me that it might be easier to just use the spare that you've already got!by Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
Thanks for checking. If the router works, and the commands to start the router are correct...plus you aren't seeing a light that indicates the relay is closing...I would suspect that the relay has been damaged. However, the handibot interface board supports control of two routers--so there is, in effect, a backup relay that can be used to control the router. Hopefully that second relay was nby Brian Owen, ShopBot - Handibot Forum
