This was oh so short of notice, but I whipped together a proposal and we will see if they like it.by Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
This is just a software thing. When you did the zero your limit switch failed to register for some reason. That is another subject but for the -8.xxx you can just reset to zero. The easiest way is to switch to full mode if you are not already and then just tap ZY.by Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
May well be the slides, disconnect the Y axis drive and then gently push the Y back and forth. It should push smooth and easy.by Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
BTW Robin, of all the mods and accessoriesI I have bought or made, the Z touch plate is one of the most useful. Search here and you will find directions.by Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
If z is moving as it has for other uses, a setting has been jogged. One of the shopbot guys will show up and tell us exactly which one but in the meantime just try resetting everything back to default. UR from advanced should do it.by Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
I had a hard time reading the slides, but I did see a runtime error so I'd uninstall everything, delete any directories left over and then reinstall the latest from the website. If that does not do it I'd call shopbot monday. they have never failed to talk me throught anything.by Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
Yes, you absolutely can. this would be the preferred way in my opinion. I did an instructable on alternate datums and using the laser alignment tool if you are interested. Robin, I have had much of the same problems with the router and using commands. I have just found it easier to open Vcarve and lay down what I want there and then cut. This takes a few min. longer but has the added benefit of giving you a visual of what you are about to do. I do hope they have this all straight at some point.by Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
I want to be clear if it is not, I am not a Shopbot employee, just one of handibots biggest fans. The 2 am thing is just the weird hours I keep. Now, the current Handibot cuts 6x8", it can be indexed for practical cuts, I do it all the time, but if your plans are for something artistic or a production run of something that doesn't fit this I really think you would be better off goby Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
Most likely it will not be much if any bigger as shopbot will be looking at backward compatibility with 1.x accessories and such. Also being much bigger would go against its design philosophy. What will be different is the changes from kickstart up through 1.1 are all small changes built on the same frame. 2.0 will be more than a collection of improvements it will be a rewrite of all that hasby Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
I have not cut a lithoplane but it does not sound normal to me.by Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
Brian your "Just to clarify" has discombobulated me! I don't understand any of it and that makes me sad. I am in command console and I type: C and then 6, this is labeled as starting the spindle. When I do this the router starts and then stops with no popups, just the code flashing through the green code window. I have figured out that this is calling a file named "ATCby Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
Brian, yes, the router comes on as it should, but looks like it is ordered off at the end of whatever script gets run by c6 Th e router stays on for somewhere around 700-1000 ms.by Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
Looking at the numbers there is deffinetly something wrong but I can not say what with any authority. Since the board is planed I would guess that you have binding in your Z axis. Like all problems that are not obvious, I would call Shopbot, they are great about working these things out over the phone.by Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
Ha!, I was not clear, you do not have to be connected to your bot during the download and update but the next time you do conect, isue the UI command and follow the directions that pop up. Robin, They are constantly releasing minor updates, seems that every time I check I am several behind. I am guessing that since you are getting a message, your version on your pc and the firmware on the bot don't match. Go get the latest from shopbot and then with everything hooked up tell the control software to update the firmware. The command to update the firmware is: UIby Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
Oh, in that case, should be fine. Vogt886 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > This was actually the 1/8 inch straight end mill > that came with the handibot. I was going to to do some cuts the other day just using the keyboard but whenever I would start the router it turns back off again within about 1 second. Anyone know what is going on here?by Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
Being the curious type I would try it on some scrap of the same type that you want to cut but as a rule, no, you don't normally get good results from home improvement store straight bits. Looks like most of use prefer spiral up-cut for most work but opinions do vary.by Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
That's right, carefully lay down a 6X8 matrix starting from where your zero point for the project will be. There are cursors cut into the baseplate at both the X and the Y zero. If you use the jig and then index over your 6 inches, you should line up perfectly with your next set of lines. It is what I sometimes call belt and suspenders solution. One could do the job but with both we are sureby Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
I agree with you Erich, it would be great if we had not just open source (free) software but also the community that the 3d printer guys have. As to the community, though, check out the main shopbot forum, it is active and around 60% of what is discussed relates right back to the handibot as it is just a very small shopbot. One more piece of software you might want to look at is Deskprotoby Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
Either that is a misprint or you misread, the tiles are 6 inches in X and 8 inches in Y There are some good videos on this from shopbot as well as from Vetric. Also, see my instructable. Like any new skill with the handi, tiling is challenging at first but is a piece of cake after you get the hang of it. The biggest challenge with the jig is to be careful with placement of the handibot,by Mark Evans - Handibot Forum

You just continue to loosen the collet nut till it comes off the router. I am not in charge, but I would love to see stuff that is directly related. If it is not allowed come on over to the G+ handibot owners group and it will be welcome there.by Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
Erich: Have you upgraded to VCarve Ver. 8? If not, call Shopbot and do so. Well worth the upgrade cost and has the ability to work with STL files as well as a lot of other improvements. Another thing you might look into depending on what you are wanting to do are the free tools from AutoDesk.by Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
Sorry, I am late, I am normally the first here. There are lots of good solutions: If/when I am going to do a lot of work with small bits I will get this: For now, this is working nicely:by Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
I find this exciting (like most 2.0 revelations), I've never had huge problems with offsets in z over the x and y but as we get more complex on designs this may well be a life safer. Does this mean that the Z zero will come pre-installed on 2.0? Brian Owen, ShopBot Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Both actually! If it is the Y let me add that the handibot needs to be on a flat surface! There is just enough flex in our 1.0 machines that an uneven surface can cause this intermittently as you report.by Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
If everything works but the handibot crashes on zero it is almost always (in my experience) a limit switch. You can easily check this. With the control sw running manually push the switch. A virtual light just under the axis readouts should light up. If it doesn't, you have a bad switch or wiring. If it does light up, slowly drive to the stop. Does it light now? If not, you need to adjusby Mark Evans - Handibot Forum
